On June 29, 2009 Horner Millwork was granted Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) Chain of Custody Certification by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). This certification means that we meet strict tracking requirements for ensuring the products we sell as FSC-certified come from other Chain of Custody manufacturers and/or well-managed forests. The certification is another step in our commitment to environmental practices.
Tax Credit Amount: 10% of the cost, up to $500, but windows are capped at $200.
As part of the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012, homeowners are eligible for a 10% tax credit up to $500 dollars (but windows are capped at $200) if they purchase qualifying windows or doors.
How do I get the credit?
Purchase and install ENERGY STAR qualified windows or doors from 1/2/2012 to 12/31/2013.
Save the sales receipt and the manufacturer's ENERGY STAR/NFRC certification label.
Claim the tax credit when you file your taxes as directed by the IRS or consult a tax professional.
Which products qualify?
Windows and doors must be ENERGY STAR qualified and bear the temporary NFRC/ENERGY STAR label.
The tax credit is for the product only and does not cover installation costs.
The maximum lifetime credit is $500 ($200 for windows) for the tax year and includes other eligible products.
Horner Millwork does not assume any liability for determining whether a particular product qualifies for the tax credit and is not providing legal or tax advice.
Requirements: Must be ENERGY STAR qualified. You do not have to replace all the windows/doors/skylights in your home to qualify. And it doesn't need to be a replacement either - installing a new window where there wasn't one previously (like in an addition) qualifies. Tax Credit does NOT include installation costs.
